Our regular partner

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council

Since our first trip in 2022, The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council in Kampala has been our regular local partner. They know the community, establish the need and stay involved, also after a project has been completed.

Who they are

Our base in Uganda

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council is a large national organisation in Uganda, based in Kampala. Besides its religious role, the organisation does a great deal of social work: it builds schools, constructs water wells and is in direct contact with villages and families in the region.

For us that social network is the basis of everything. Through the partner we know which villages and families need help the most; that way our projects start with a local need, not with an idea from the Netherlands. During the first trip in 2022, founder Kerim saw up close through this organisation how practical local aid can be. That experience became the foundation of Stichting Hart voor Afrika, and the partnership has been our regular base in Uganda ever since.

Our partnership

How we work together

Signals from the community

The partner signals where help is really needed and proposes projects from the villages themselves.

Preparing and carrying out together

We test every proposal for feasibility and costs. After approval by the board, we carry out the project together on site.

Checking, also afterwards

On a later trip we check earlier projects. In 2024, for example, the 2023 water well proved to be in use every day.

From the annual reports

What we did together

In 2022 it began with one hundred food parcels, put together in four days at the markets of Kampala and handed out to families in the villages of Lweza and Bombo. In 2023 the water well in Muchanga followed, which gives more than three thousand people clean drinking water, and in the autumn of 2023 we paid, through the partner, for two made-to-measure wheelchairs and three months of nutritious porridge for twelve children. During the 2024 project trip the water well was checked together: it is in use every day.
